The Ministry of Industry and Commerce says a trade connectivity conference between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan was held in Kabul, attended by the ministry’s minister, Nooruddin Azizi, the head of the Small Industries Development Agency under Uzbekistan’s Council of Ministers, Nazimjon Kholmuradov, and members of the private sectors of both countries.

The ministry added that the purpose of the conference was to increase the level of bilateral trade, expand commercial relations and cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries, and create facilities for joint investment in Afghanistan.

Mr. Azizi emphasized the expansion of practical and economic cooperation between the two countries and stated that relations between Kabul and Tashkent have become closer than ever before.

Meanwhile, Uzbek officials expressed interest in investing in cotton cultivation and silk production in Afghanistan, saying that such investments would create hundreds of job opportunities for Afghans.
