The Ministry of Interior says that Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani met with Dr. Hanan Balkhy, Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO), and her accompanying delegation to discuss strengthening Afghanistan’s healthcare sector, expanding health cooperation, and supporting polio vaccination programs.

According to a statement from the ministry, Haqqani said that following the restoration of security across the country, favorable conditions have been created for the delivery of healthcare services, and the government is ready to cooperate with all relevant organizations in this field.

He added that Afghans continue to face a shortage of healthcare services and that addressing these challenges requires joint cooperation between international and domestic institutions.

Haqqani also stressed that healthcare services should remain free from political considerations and be delivered solely on the basis of humanitarian needs.
