A powerful earthquake in southern Philippines has left more than 500 people affected, according to reports.

The Guardian reported that at least 37 people were killed, 479 others were injured, and four remain missing after the quake struck the southern region of the country the previous day.

Authorities said hundreds of buildings have collapsed, while electricity and water supply systems have been severely disrupted. As a result, tens of thousands of residents have been forced to leave their homes.

Officials added that search and rescue operations, along with relief efforts, are still underway.
