Emmanuel Macron has said that France’s era of influence in its former African colonies has effectively come to an end.
He made the remarks on Monday in Nairobi, ahead of the opening of an African summit.
Macron noted that between 2020 and 2023, military coups in Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso significantly reduced Paris’s influence in these countries.
He further stated that French troops have since been withdrawn from all three countries.
It is worth noting that the leaders of the three countries did not attend the Nairobi meeting.
