Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Commission, has responded to recent threats by US President Donald Trump, saying, “This is the Persian Gulf,” and claiming that Iran alone will determine the conditions governing the Strait of Hormuz.
He also criticized the repeated US threats, stating, “Stop making empty threats like the failed Bay of Pigs invasion. Move beyond slogans and disclose the true extent of your human and financial losses.”
The Bay of Pigs is a coastal area in Cuba where a CIA-backed force of Cuban exiles launched a failed invasion in 1961. The operation is widely regarded as a major US defeat and is often invoked to mock the United States.
