Germany’s Robert Koch Institute has reported that more than 5,000 people have died in the country due to extreme heat by the end of June this year.
According to the institute, approximately 4,310 heat-related deaths were recorded between June 22 and June 28 alone.
The report states that people aged 75 and older account for more than 80 percent of the fatalities. The figures are based on statistical estimates.
