The Economic Deputy Office of the Prime Minister says that construction and expansion work on 16 substations is currently underway in various provinces of the country at a cost of eight billion and 150 million Afghanis.
The source added that these substations are being built by Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat in the provinces of Herat, Helmand, Kandahar, Ghazni, Logar, Kabul, Nangarhar, Baghlan, Kunduz, and Jawzjan.
Overall, these substations will have the capacity to distribute 1800 megawatts of electricity, and upon completion, they will provide power to one million households and 1100 industrial factories.
According to the Economic Deputy Office, the projects are being implemented by Afghan engineers with financial support from the Afghan government.
