The Minister of Mines and Petroleum Mullah Hedayatullah Badri said that the construction of the second major cement production plant in Jabal al-Siraj marks an important step toward Afghanistan’s self-sufficiency in cement production, while also creating employment opportunities.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony for the project’s construction, Badri stated that contracts have so far been signed with nine companies for cement production projects, and work on these projects is currently underway at various stages.
According to him, once these cement plants become operational, they will create employment opportunities for around 10,000 people and bring Afghanistan closer to meeting its domestic cement demand through local production.
