The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, has laid the foundation stone for the “Abdul Rahman bin Sumrah” Industrial Park in Kunduz Province, covering an area of 10,000 jeribs of land, according to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs.
The statement said the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs described the industrial park as an important step toward economic growth, industrial development and creating opportunities for investment. He added that land has been allocated in various provinces for the establishment of industrial parks aimed at creating employment opportunities and promoting industrial growth, with Kunduz serving as the starting point.
Baradar Akhund said Afghanistan has abundant raw materials for production, processing and packaging, and that production levels have increased in some sectors, creating opportunities for exports. He stressed: “To reduce dependence on imports, production must be strengthened, its quality and standards improved, and industrial activities expanded.”
He added that suitable opportunities have been created in the country for economic activities, trade and investment, and that this is now a good opportunity for domestic and foreign investors and industrialists to invest in Afghanistan. According to him, the Afghan government has approved incentives for investors and provided the necessary facilities in many sectors.
According to the statement, the industrial park will provide opportunities for investment in textiles, pharmaceuticals, food products, construction materials, iron and steel, and other manufacturing sectors. It will also include a mosque, administrative and commercial areas, a hospital, bank, madrasa, school and other essential services.
