According to a Reuters report, former Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy has been appointed as the new Secretary-General of the Arab League.

The report states that his appointment was made during the recent meeting of Arab League foreign ministers hosted by Jordan.

It is worth noting that Nabil Fahmy previously served as Egypt’s ambassador to the United States.

The appointment comes at a time when the organization has faced growing criticism over its response to the conflicts in Gaza, Sudan, and Lebanon.
