The Ministry of Public Health says that, based on a memorandum of understanding with the Afghan Post Emirate-owned company, samples of medicines collected from the country’s customs will be regularly sent to central laboratories for evaluation, in order to prevent substandard drugs from entering the market.
A meeting was held on this matter with the participation of officials from the Food and Drug Deputy, representatives of Afghan Post, and delegates from 34 provinces.
The ministry stated that the aim of this mechanism is to assess the quality, effectiveness, and safety of medicines, and to better protect public health.
It was also emphasized that coordination between the center and the provinces will further speed up and improve the process of transferring samples.
