Reuters reports that China’s Ministry of Commerce has imposed sanctions on ten U.S. companies.
The affected firms operate in the military industry and in the extraction of rare earth elements.
Beijing said the decision was taken to safeguard national security, adding that all exports to these companies will be suspended.
The move comes after the United States recently sanctioned several major Chinese companies over alleged ties to the military.
