According to Reuters, a bomb explosion in Colombia’s western Cauca province on Saturday left 13 people dead and 17 others injured.

The attack reportedly targeted a passenger bus traveling along the Pan-American Highway.

Authorities have blamed the bombing on a dissident faction of FARC, a group that rejected the 2016 peace agreement.

Cauca Governor Octavia Guzmán said local authorities are no longer capable of preventing such attacks on their own.

She urged the central government to take decisive, sustained, and effective action, warning that the situation signals a serious breakdown in public order.
