The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has reported that its special forces eliminated a member of the Islamic State (ISIS) who had planned attacks on a synagogue and the Moscow Metro.

According to sources, the individual, a national from a Central Asian country, was killed during an operation in which explosives, weapons, and detail about a planned attack were recovered from his hideout.

ISIS members have periodically carried out or attempted attacks in Russia, with many of those involved having received training at active ISIS centers in Pakistan’s Balochistan region.
