The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, traveled to Iran today (Thursday) to attend the funeral ceremony of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

According to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, is also accompanying Mr. Baradar on the visit.

Iran’s former Supreme Leader was killed several months ago in joint U.S. and Israeli airstrikes.

According to reports, the funeral ceremonies are scheduled to begin next Saturday.
