Richard Bennett, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Afghanistan, said the Pakistani military regime’s attacks on Helmand and Kunar last night were clear violations of human rights and international law and must be investigated and subject to accountability.
Referring to the civilian casualties caused by the attacks, Bennett asked: “Is this the result of incompetence, negligence, or something even more serious?”
He stressed that those responsible must be held accountable for the attacks and the civilian deaths and injuries they caused.
