The US Department of State announced on Thursday that it has approved a proposed $2 billion sale of precision-guided missile systems to Saudi Arabia.
In a statement, the department said the sale would support US foreign policy and national security objectives by strengthening a key non-NATO ally that plays an important role in promoting political stability and economic development across the Gulf region.
Saudi Arabia has not yet publicly commented on the proposed sale.
