The Trump administration plans to send Israel 40,000 bombs as part of a new $2.8 billion arms package, the Associated Press reported.

The package includes 20,000 MK-84 bombs and 20,000 BLU-117 bombs, according to US officials cited by the Associated Press. Each bomb weighs 2,000 pounds, or about 907 kilograms.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal has not yet been finalized.

The Biden administration delayed a shipment of similar heavy bombs in 2024 over concerns that their use could cause large numbers of civilian casualties. The Trump administration later lifted the restriction, according to the report.
