The New York Times reported that the US Department of War is planning to withdraw nearly 5,000 troops from Germany.
Sources, citing Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell, said the withdrawal process is expected to be completed within six to twelve months.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump had stated that Washington would reduce its military presence in Germany.
Trump made the remarks following a verbal dispute between German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Donald Trump.
