Uzbekistan’s official news agency reported that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has officially signed a decree endorsing the preferential trade agreement with Afghanistan, formalizing the pact between the two countries.

The agreement, according to the report, eliminates customs duties on 14 types of goods, introduces simplified phytosanitary procedures for Afghan agricultural products, strengthens support for exporters, and promotes the growth of Uzbek exports.

The agreement was first signed last year during the Tashkent International Investment Forum by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade and Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Trade, representing an important milestone in deepening economic cooperation between the two countries.
