The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock says that a cold storage facility has been constructed with an investment of 30 million dollars in the industrial park of Deh Sabz district, Kabul province, and has been handed over for operation.

The ministry adds that the cold storage facility has been built on six jeribs of land and has the capacity to store three thousand metric tons of fresh fruits.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Mawlawi Sadr Azam Usmani, emphasized the importance of constructing large and standard cold storage facilities, stating that the expansion of such facilities can help prevent the loss of agricultural products during the harvest season.

At the same time, the head of the Agriculture and Livestock Chamber, Khan Mohammad Frotan, said that this year nearly 110 small and large new cold storage facilities have been constructed, rehabilitated, and put into operation across Kabul province.

It is worth noting that the Afghan government has announced a five-year tax exemption for cold storage builders in order to encourage investors in this sector.
