In a statement issued on the 46th anniversary of the former Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan, the Deputy Spokesman of the Afghan government, Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, said that the invasion inflicted damage on Afghanistan from all sides, forced millions of Afghans to migrate, and resulted in martyrs and people with disabilities.

The statement said that the brave and Muslim people of Afghanistan waged jihad with courage, as a result of which, after ten years, the Soviet Red Army was defeated in Afghanistan and the people were freed from oppression and occupation.

It emphasized that this great historical event conveys the message that no arrogant power in the world should ever doubt the faith, honor, and firm resolve of the Muslim and courageous people of Afghanistan.

The Afghan government once again condemned the invasion and called on the people to always remain ready to protect independence, the Islamic system, and national values.

Assurance was also given that the Islamic Emirate will continue, day and night, to serve and strive for the defense of religious values, the Islamic government, the homeland, and Muslims.
