The Director General of the National Environmental Protection Authority, Mawlawi Matiul Haq Khalis, met in Kabul with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador, Ilham Mammadov, to discuss bilateral environmental cooperation.

According to a statement issued by the authority, the discussions focused on climate change, Afghanistan’s participation in international conferences, technical cooperation, and ways to further strengthen bilateral environmental relations.

Mawlawi Khalis expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s continued cooperation, particularly praising the country’s diplomatic efforts to facilitate Afghanistan’s participation in the COP29 conference.

He noted that although Afghanistan was not invited to the COP30 international conference, Azerbaijan’s support and cooperation remain commendable, adding that the Afghan government appreciates these efforts.
