The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, economic and trade cooperation, and regional issues.
Muttaqi emphasized strengthening political understanding between Afghanistan and Russia, along with greater focus on economic, trade, and transit cooperation and continued joint efforts toward regional stability.
Lavrov stressed the importance of continuing political consultations between the two countries and expressed Russia’s interest in further strengthening economic and trade relations.
He also praised the Afghan government’s measures in combating narcotics and strengthening security.
