Afghanistan’s Standards and Quality Authority and Uzbekistan’s Agency for Technical Regulation held a bilateral meeting in Termez to discuss technical cooperation, trade facilitation and the removal of technical barriers, the National Standards Authority said in a statement.
The two sides discussed harmonizing domestic standards with international standards, developing laboratories and finalizing a memorandum of understanding on technical cooperation.
They also stressed the need to strengthen measurement systems in the mining, energy, health and manufacturing sectors and establish mobile measurement services in Afghanistan.
Uzbekistan’s Agency for Technical Regulation also expressed readiness to organize training seminars for Afghan specialists on technical regulations and measurement to help strengthen their technical capacity.
