The Chinese Ambassador to Kabul, Zhao Xing, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, and discussed bilateral cooperation, regional developments, and the ongoing negotiations in the Chinese city of Urumqi.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Mr. Muttaqi, while positively assessing relations and cooperation between the two countries, thanked his Chinese counterpart for organizing and hosting the talks in Urumqi.

The Foreign Minister noted that constructive discussions have taken place so far and expressed hope that minor interpretations would not hinder the progress of the negotiations.

The Chinese Ambassador in Kabul also shared the latest updates on the Urumqi talks with the Foreign Minister and stated that his country is working to foster an atmosphere of trust between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

He added that, with an understanding of the region’s geopolitical situation, it is hoped that the process of confidence-building between the Afghan government and Pakistan’s military establishment will continue with goodwill and the absence of violence.
