Afghanistan’s Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, said tax collection officials are responsible for collecting taxes from the public in an appropriate and efficient manner while ensuring fairness and transparency in tax administration.

Speaking at a ceremony announcing new tax relief measures, Mawlawi Hanafi said the Islamic Emirate’s new tax relief package would be implemented across four sectors.

He said the package covers companies, individuals, goods, and the gas and oil sectors. According to Hanafi, a 10 percent reduction in income tax has been introduced for these areas, which will apply to net income.

Regarding individual income taxes, Hanafi said people with an annual income of up to 120,000 Afghanis are exempt from taxation, while those whose income exceeds this amount will be subject to a 10 percent tax.

Mawlawi Hanafi stressed that officials of the Ministry of Finance must collect taxes from citizens through proper procedures and ensure that justice, transparency, and fairness are maintained in the implementation of tax policies.
