The Panjshir Governor’s media office has reported that Ata Mohammad Amiri, who served as the head of the Panjshir Provincial Council during the fallen republic, has returned to the country and met with the governor of Panjshir.

According to the statement, the governor informed Amiri that, under the general amnesty decree issued by the leadership of the interim government, all Afghans living abroad are free to return and resume their normal lives.

Governor Hafiz Mohammad Agha Hakim also assured Amiri that Panjshir, like the rest of the country, enjoys full security and social stability. He added that the government remains open to all, and Afghans who have left the country are welcome to return.

Amiri, for his part, said the narratives being promoted abroad—particularly those concerning Panjshir—are entirely inaccurate. He stated that, based on his personal observations, there are no issues in Panjshir and that its residents are living in peace and comfort.
