Former Afghan-American diplomat Zalmay Khalilzad said last night’s airstrikes by the Pakistani regime in Afghanistan killed civilians and destroyed the fuel reserves of the private airline Kam Air.
He called the Pakistani regime’s actions both unacceptable and damaging, stating, “I strongly condemn this aggression in the harshest terms.”
Khalilzad also questioned whether Pakistan’s ruling institutions are capable of leading the country responsibly, though he did not offer an answer.
He also called on Islamabad to immediately halt violence and engage in dialogue, warning that failure to do so could prompt an Afghan response and further destabilize the situation.
