According to AFP, French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in Damascus on an official state visit, marking the first visit by a Western European leader since Syria’s new government took office in 2024.
The report noted that Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani welcomed Macron upon his arrival at Damascus International Airport.
During the visit, Macron is expected to hold talks with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on bilateral relations and a range of other issues.
