Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, speaking at a general assembly on the West Asia crisis, stated that India cannot take on the role of a broker country in international affairs.

Jaishankar made the remarks in response to opposition claims that Pakistan was playing a mediating role in negotiations between the U.S. and Iran.

He noted that Pakistan’s role as an intermediary is not new and has continued since 1981. According to him, Washington has for years used Islamabad as a tool to maintain its relations with Tehran.
