Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy said three oil tankers struck naval mines and caught fire while attempting to pass through unauthorized shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz, Anadolu Agency reported.

According to the report, the vessels had switched off their navigation and identification systems in the early hours of Tuesday. They subsequently struck mines, triggering explosions and fires near the southern edge of the strait.

The IRGC Navy warned that vessels violating maritime regulations and using unauthorized routes in coordination with the US military could face similar incidents.

The incident has not been independently verified. The names of the vessels, the fate of their crews and the extent of the damage have not yet been disclosed.
