Israeli President Isaac Herzog warned that Israel is now facing profound internal divisions and a sharp rise in political violence.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed that Israel requires a stronger and expanded military, arguing that the current force is insufficient to meet the country’s security needs.

Netanyahu pledged to extend mandatory military service and strengthen the readiness of Israel’s reserve forces.

The measures come as Israel seeks to restore its military strength after enduring heavy military and economic setbacks during more than two years of conflict in Gaza.
