The Ministry of Public Works has announced the commencement of detailed design work for the 737-kilometer Kandahar-Herat railway, valued at 246 million Afghanis.

According to the ministry, the project is expected to be completed within the next eight months.

At the inauguration ceremony, Interim Government Spokesperson Mawlawi Zabihullah Mujahid emphasized the project’s importance as a significant economic step in terms of trade and transit. He stated that upon its completion, the railway will link Turkmenistan and Iran with Pakistan through Afghanistan.
