Afghan government spokesperson Mawlawi Zabihullah Mujahid announced that, under a directive from the leadership, several senior appointments have been made across government authorities and provincial administrations.

As part of the reshuffle, former Jawzjan police chief Qari Mohammad Ismail Rasikh has been appointed governor of Jawzjan Province, while former deputy commander of the 217 Omari Corps Mullah Abdul Karim Nafiz has been appointed as the province’s new police chief. Former Jawzjan governor Mullah Abdullah Sarhadi has been appointed deputy commander of the 217 Omari Corps.

Meanwhile, former Kandahar University president Sheikh Abdul Rahman Tayebi has been appointed Deputy Minister for Culture and Arts at the Ministry of Information and Culture. Former member of the Supreme Court’s Dar al-Ifta Directorate Sheikh Abdul Rahman Ghaznawi has been appointed as the president of Kandahar University, while former Deputy Minister for Culture and Arts Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi has been appointed Director of Information and Culture for Herat Province.
