The Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice and Hearing of Complaints reports its moral enforcers prevented the marriage of a four-year-old girl to a 39-year-old disabled man in Ghazni province.

According to the ministry, the girl was being married off to the man in exchange for a large sum of money as part of harmful customary practices. However, the child was rescued following the intervention of the ministry’s moral enforcers.

Local residents praised the moral enforcers’ efforts to promote virtue, prevent wrongdoing, and protect women’s Islamic rights in the community, saying the move would help curb harmful customs and un-Islamic practices in society.
