The Standards and Quality Authority said in a statement that it had prevented three consignments containing 97.495 tons of substandard construction materials from entering the country through Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi Port. The consignments were returned to the exporting country for failing to meet domestic standards.
The authority said the consignments included deformed and plain steel bars, liquid bitumen, and tiles, which were found to be substandard following laboratory tests conducted by the port’s Standards and Quality Department.
The statement added that the materials were returned to their country of origin in the presence of representatives from the relevant authorities.
