Tasnim News Agency reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would reject any U.S. proposal calling for a broad withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, southern Lebanon, and parts of Syria.
According to Israeli media, Netanyahu made the remarks during a security cabinet meeting ahead of his visit to Washington, where he is scheduled to meet U.S. President Donald Trump.
Netanyahu said he would emphasize to Trump the need for continued oversight of Iran’s nuclear program, warning that Tehran could attempt to revive its nuclear infrastructure.
He also warned that any direct attack by Iran or any action carried out through its proxy groups would be met with a “decisive response” from Israel.
Netanyahu is scheduled to meet Trump at the White House on Tuesday, with Iran, Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon expected to be among the main issues on the agenda.
