Reuters reported that North Korea has criticized the United States and its allies following the latest NATO summit, accusing Western countries of continuing to strengthen military alliances and expand their weapons stockpiles.

In a statement issued by North Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and published by the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the government accused NATO leaders of portraying North Korea’s exercise of its sovereign rights as a threat.

The statement called NATO an organization moving toward war and confrontation, adding that North Korea will continue to strengthen its military capabilities to protect its national security and sovereignty.

The remarks came after NATO’s latest summit, where member states announced new agreements to expand military cooperation and increase weapons production and procurement. North Korea has repeatedly rejected calls to abandon its nuclear weapons program, insisting it will continue to strengthen its nuclear deterrent.
