Tasnim News Agency reported that North Korea has strongly condemned the possible U.S. sale of weapons to South Korea and Washington’s plan to allocate millions of dollars to document alleged human rights violations in North Korea. Pyongyang warned that it would respond to these measures “immediately and forcefully.”
A spokesperson for North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said the U.S. approval of a potential sale to South Korea of 103 AIM-9X air-to-air missiles and related equipment reflects the continuation of Washington’s “hostile policy” toward Pyongyang. The spokesperson described the planned sale as a new threat to North Korea’s security.
North Korea also condemned a U.S. plan to allocate up to $2.96 million to document alleged human rights violations in the country and counter North Korean propaganda.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson said North Korea would closely monitor any hostile actions by Washington and take “immediate and forceful measures” if its security interests are threatened.
