The Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced that minister, Nuruddin Azizi, met with Erkinjon Turdimov, the Governor of Uzbekistan’s Sirdarya region, and his accompanying delegation.

According to the ministry, the talks focused on deepening bilateral trade, enhancing cooperation between the two countries’ private sectors, organizing a joint trade forum in Sirdarya, and addressing customs-related obstacles to facilitate smoother cross-border commerce.

Mr. Azizi called Afghanistan’s high-quality cotton as a key export opportunity to Uzbekistan and urged Uzbek business representatives to visit Afghanistan to expand trade ties.

The Uzbek delegation expressed strong interest in importing Afghanistan’s fresh fruits, especially pomegranates alongside its cotton exports, signaling potential for broader trade cooperation.
