An Indian media outlet named Omcom News has stated in a recently published analytical report that the Pakistani regime may intensify the ongoing violence with Afghanistan in order to avoid being drawn into the war involving Iran.
Sources said that after Iran launched missile attacks on Saudi Arabia, Pakistan has come under severe pressure to implement its defense agreement and may therefore increase its attacks in Afghanistan.
The outlet, citing intelligence sources, added that Pakistan is planning to initiate a major military conflict in Afghanistan in order to buy time and avoid joining the war in Iran on the side of Saudi Arabia and the United States.
According to the source, this is a major “diversionary tactic” that Pakistan will use as an excuse to avoid participating in the war against Iran.
According to available information, the pressure stems from a strategic mutual defense agreement signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on September 17, 2025. The main clause of the agreement states that an attack on one country will be considered an attack on both, which now obliges Pakistan to join the war against Iran.
According to analysts, Pakistan never anticipated that it would actually be forced to fulfill its commitments, nor did it expect that Iran would launch attacks on several countries in the Middle East.
Sources also quoted an official as saying that Pakistan is currently under intense pressure and many countries are reminding it of the commitments it made to Saudi Arabia. However, Pakistan does not currently intend to enter the war because it does not want to become entangled in the conflict between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
The analytical report also states that Pakistan cannot stand against the United States in this conflict, as it has long taken pride in its close relations with Washington. Pakistan has even signed a mining deal with the administration of Donald Trump, which has further complicated the situation.
Omcom News adds that Pakistan has historically used attacks on Indian territory as a diversionary tactic to conceal its internal problems. However, this time launching a military attack against India is not an option. Pakistan is already deeply entangled in its internal conflicts, and the activities of the TTP and the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) have further worsened the situation for the country.
Sources also quoted another official as saying that expanding the war in Afghanistan would come at a heavy cost for Pakistan. However, Pakistan is willing to take that risk, considering it a better option than becoming involved in the war against Iran.
The official added that Pakistan is trapped in a difficult situation where it cannot afford to anger Saudi Arabia, Iran, and the United States at the same time.
Finally, the sources cited aviation experts as saying that escalating violence in Afghanistan would only be a temporary solution, and in the coming days this “dangerous game” will become even more difficult and complex for Pakistan.
