According to information received by Hindukush Voice, a heavy clash took place at 1:00 AM last night on the unrecognized Durand Line in the Sarkan, Munawara, Shaltan, and Dangam districts of Kunar province. The clash involved the border forces of Pakistan and Afghanistan, with both sides using light and heavy weaponry.

Source citing the local border forces reported that the conflict was triggered by border violations from the Pakistani side. As a result, Afghan border forces captured and burned two Pakistani posts in the Nawa Pass area, causing casualties to seven soldiers.

The source added that the conflict began when a large number of mortar shells fired by Pakistan landed in the villages of Sarkan district, hitting a civilian’s house and killing the sheep, goats, and chickens of that household.
