Driscoll stepped down on Monday, renewing scrutiny of reported disagreements among senior officials at the Pentagon.

According to the report, tensions between Driscoll and U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had intensified in recent months over efforts to modernize the Army and the removal of several senior commanders.

Driscoll had sought to restructure the U.S. Army for future conflicts by expanding its use of drones, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. However, the continued departure of senior military officials, including Driscoll, has brought significant changes to the leadership of the U.S. Department of War.
