The media office of the Nangarhar Governor’s Office announced that moral enforcers from the Directorate for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints prevented the marriage of an eight-year-old girl to a 60-year-old man in the 26th Canal area of Shinwari district.

Sources said that the girl’s father was addicted to narcotics and intended to give his daughter to the man in exchange for a large sum of money.

Moral enforcers from the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice directorate have previously prevented underage marriages in several provinces across the country.
