Russian media outlet Sputnik has reported that residents of Istanbul staged protests against NATO ahead of the alliance’s summit in Ankara.
One of the banners carried by demonstrators read: “NATO means poverty, mass killings, and destruction.”
The protesters also condemned the “American imperialism” and the presence of U.S. military bases in the region, while chanting slogans in support of Gaza.
It is worth noting that the NATO leaders’ summit is currently underway in Türkiye’s capital, Ankara, and U.S. President Donald Trump is also expected to attend.
