The Financial Times has reported that France, Germany, and the United Kingdom have warned the United Nations they are prepared to impose new sanctions on Iran if it does not resume negotiations with the international community over its nuclear program.
According to the report, the foreign ministers of the three countries, collectively known as the E3 stated in a letter to the UN that if Iran does not immediately restart discussions on the issue, they will move swiftly to impose penal measures.
In the letter, published by the Financial Times, the ministers wrote: “We have made it clear that if Iran is not ready for a diplomatic solution by the end of August 2025, the E3 are prepared to activate the sanctions snapback mechanism.”
