Abdul Rahim Rashid, spokesperson for the Supreme Court, told Voice of Hindukush that over the past year, courts of the Afghan government addressed approximately 14,685 cases and matters related to women’s rights at the primary and appellate court levels.
Rashid said these cases included women’s inheritance and property disputes, facilitating the process of obtaining inheritance, deeds and property ownership documents, as well as registering documents for properties designated as dowry in women’s names.
The Supreme Court spokesperson added that the courts are committed to ensuring women’s rights to inheritance, dowry, maintenance, property, and other Sharia-based rights, and that relevant cases are reviewed in accordance with Sharia principles and applicable regulations.
He emphasized that efforts are being made to ensure people’s rights through fair and impartial decisions in the judicial process, so that rights are restored to their rightful holders and no one’s rights are violated.
