SANA, Syria’s state news agency, reported that Syria has taken on the chairmanship of the Arab Group at the United Nations for the current term.
In a post on the Permanent Mission’s X account, Syria’s UN delegation said, “Syria is honored to assume the leadership of the Arab countries at the United Nations.”
Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ibrahim al-Alabi, described the appointment as a moment of pride and said Syria will fulfill its responsibilities in close cooperation with other member states.
The Arab Group at the United Nations works to coordinate and unify the positions of Arab countries on key political, humanitarian, legal, and development issues on the UN agenda.
