Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa praised French President Emmanuel Macron for continuing with his visit to Syria despite the explosions, calling his decision an act of courage.
Al-Sharaa said Macron was informed of the explosions during the visit but immediately announced that he would continue with his trip and follow his schedule as planned.
He said many people are troubled by Syria’s recent progress.
“There are those who wanted this country to remain in ruins and devastation, and they are disturbed by what Syria has achieved today,” al-Sharaa said.
He added that an investigation is underway and expressed confidence that those responsible for the criminal attack would soon be brought to justice.
Al-Sharaa said the attack has only strengthened the resolve of the Syrian government and its supporters to continue their efforts to rebuild the country.
